Update: Southwest gas repair

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Many of you have been asking about the status on the Southwest gas project and the final road repairs. While the gas project has been completed and preliminary road repairs have begun, the final asphalt repairs are still pending.

I spoke with the project supervisor today and requested a status update. They have put in a request to expedite our final repairs however, they still anticipate it may be several more weeks before the final asphalt layers are completed. As a reminder, they did inform us at the beginning of the project that the final road repairs could take as many as 60 days following the conclusion of the work, which wrapped up around the last week of February.

In addition I have received several inquiries about the chalk marks on the roads. The staking of communication, gas, water, electric and sewer lines are done according to a universal color scheme. All vendors are required to use paint that will wash off in 2 to 3 weeks. Since it has been over a month since these lines were staked and the paint still remains visible, they offered to come out with a can of black spray paint and paint over the yellow line, which represent the gas lines. However, by law the gas company may not modify or remove the lines from other utility companies, so we would have to contact each of these entities separately. At this time I have declined the option to spray over the yellow lines with black spray paint, and remain hopeful that all of these lines will wash away in the next few weeks. If this remains problematic, we can investigate potential remedies. In the meantime, I ask for your continued patience.

As for repairs of several areas of road damage throughout our community, we are holding off on having any additional work done until several major driveway construction projects are completed. Once that is done and we have worked out the details with the respective homeowners involved, we will follow up with dates for additional repairs.
